Living Learning Communities
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are residence hall communities that bring college learning into the everyday lives of students. They offer students the chance to live with others who share common interests and to interact with SIUC faculty and staff.
Students who participate in an LLC often have higher GPAs, more positive campus experiences and are more likely to graduate on time. Potential benefits include getting to know professors and classmates better‚ greater access to academic resources‚ and specialized programs right in your residence hall.
Brown Hall
The College of Business has it's own LLC, located in Brown Hall at scenic Thompson Point, overlooking Thompson Lake.
Students who live in the College of Business LLC benefit by being among the first to receive information about events, guest speakers, career opportunities and more. They also have the opportunity to get to know their faculty and classmates earlier, have greater access to academic resources, and experience specialized programs often located right in Brown Hall.
iPad U
Business majors residing in Brown Hall for 2011-2012 will receive an iPad 2 for use during the academic year. Contact Jill Gebke (see her contact information below) to learn more.
Freshman Interest Groups
Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs) are one-semester orientation programs for incoming freshmen. Most FIGs are nestled within a LLC. FIG students take many of the same classes together, and are frequently comprised of students from a same or similar area of study. This allows students to make friends and network with their peers early in their program. There are currently two School of Accountancy FIGs nested in the Business LLC.
