Her teaching focus includes the following courses; Professional Selling, Sales Management, Retail Management, Marketing Channels, Marketing Management, and Marketing Research. She has published in journals including the Journal of Interactive Advertising, Journal of Retailing, Services Marketing Quarterly, among others.

    Dr. Beardsley received her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Tsinghua University in Beijing (China) in 1997 and a Ph.D. degree in Finance from the Pennsylvania State University in 2003. Her research interest is on financial market microstructure and investments and her work has been presented at major academic conferences. Dr. Beardsley has published in major finance journals such as Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Banking and Finance and Journal of Futures Market.

    Dr. Gordon C. Bruner II (PhD, University of North Texas) is a Full Professor in the Department of Marketing. Consumer Behavior and Strategic Promotion are his teaching specialties. He is most well known for his series of books published over the last twenty years that review psychometric scales used in scholarly marketing research (the Marketing Scales Handbooks). Another stream of research he has been heavily involved in over the last decade is consumer acceptance of technology.

    Dr. Cheryl Burke Jarvis has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University, and a master’s and Ph.D. in marketing from Indiana University, in addition to more than 10 years professional experience in advertising, public relations, publishing, and marketing management. She also has served on the faculties of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dr. Jarvis teaches Advertising Management and Services Marketing, as well as a doctoral seminar in Research Methodology.

    Dr. Royce D. Burnett, PhD, CPA, CMA is an Associate Professor in the School of Accounting at SIUC. Professor Burnett earned his PhD from Oklahoma State University in 2003. At SUIC, Professor Burnett teaches Cost and Management Accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests focus on environmental cost management, corporate sustainability, and public policy. Prior to a career in academia, Professor Burnett worked for over seventeen years in the business community where he held positions with many different companies.

    Terry Clark teaches Marketing Strategy in the undergraduate, MBA and PhD programs. Prior to joining SIU, Professor Clark was on the faculty of the Goizueta Business School of Emory University (1993-1999), and the College of Business at the University of Notre Dame (1986-1993). He has taught, lectured or been visiting professor at numerous universities, including, Texas A&M University, Cambridge University, Colorado State University, the University of Sterling, and Cardiff University. His research interests include international marketing, social and national culture, and marketing strategy.

    Dennis Cradit was named Dean of the College of Business in August, 2006, bringing 25 years of experience in teaching, research and business consulting. His research interests focus on marketing segmentation, quantitative methods, and business-to-business marketing. His scholarly work has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Retailing, Psychometrika, the Journal of Mathematical Psychology, and Multivariate Behavioral Research, among others.  A Texas native, Cradit holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and master's and doctoral degrees, both from the University of Iowa.

    Dr. Davidson, The Henry J. Rehn Professor of Finance, has been awarded many honors during his time at the College of Business.  He earned the Outstanding 2007 Research Honor Roll Award and Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Honor Roll Award, and was one of only nine honored as outstanding teachers for the University's "Excellence Through Commitment" awards the same year.  In all, he has won more than a dozen teaching awards from the College. has been awarded many honors during his time at the College of Business. Most recently, he has earned the 2009 and 2010 COB Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year award, the 2009 COB Outstanding Graduate Teaching Honor Roll award, the 2010 COB Outstanding Graduate Teacher of the Year award, the 2010 COB Outstanding Research Honor Roll award, and the 2010 Outstanding Scholar Award and 2010 Outstanding Teacher for the University award (both through SIUC’s Excellence Through Commitment Award program). In all, he has won more than a dozen teaching awards from the College.

    Dr. Deng earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Temple University in 2005. Her research interests include financial institutions, cost of debt, and debt contracting. Dr. Deng has published in Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and Journal of Banking and Finance. Dr. Deng regularly teaches Financial Markets and Management of Financial Institutions (both undergraduate and MBA level).

    Born in Wisconsin, Fraedrich received a bachelor’s degree in management from Brigham Young University and master’s and doctorate degrees in marketing from Texas A&M University. Professor Fraedrich’s interests include business ethics, corporate culture, white collar crime, and behavioral genetics. In 2006 he was asked by the Bill Daniels Foundation to become their Distinguished Professor of Business Ethics for the State of Wyoming where he developed and implemented a state wide ethics integration program.  He has written over 50 books, articles, and proceedings, mostly related to the application of business ethics.

    John Goodale is Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business at Southern Illinois University, where he teaches courses in Operations Management. In addition, John has been an active member of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), Decision Sciences Institute, and INFORMS. John's research is focused on scheduling and quality in service operations, and his recent projects have appeared in the Cornell Quarterly, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, and other journals.

    Dr. Greene joined the College of Business in fall 2009. His research focuses on financial markets and portfolio management, including the examination of mutual funds, mutual fund flows, trading costs, and market liquidity. He has contributed to top publications such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, among many others. Dr. Greene has also worked for the Office of Economic Analysis at the Securities and Exchange Commission on a project relating to order handling rules and trading regulations.

    Richard Hall has been a Lecturer in the Department of Finance since 1979. He currently teaches Real Estate and Real Estate Appraisal. He received his BS in Applied Science and Finance from SIUC in 1970 and his M.B.A. from SIUC in 1972. He currently holds licenses from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation: Insurance/Securities and the Illinois Office of Banks & Real Estate: Real Estate Sales/Broker-Appraisal-Prelicensure Instructor. Rich also owns Communications Express in Carbondale, Illinois, a marketing research and automated telemarketing company serving clients such as cruise lines, hotel chains, theme parks, casinos, bus lines, state judicial systems, and national, state, and local political parties and campaigns.

    Dr. Intintoli comes to SIU from The Eller College of Management at University of Arizona, where he received bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in finance. Dr. Intintoli chose SIU because “the Department of Finance provides an excellent environment for me to focus on quality research and teaching”. At SIU, Dr. Intintoli is the lead instructor for Finance 330 and also has experience teaching corporate finance at The University of Arizona. Dr. Intintoli researches corporate finance issues such as corporate governance, executive turnover, executive compensation, equity issues, and mergers and acquisitions.

    Dr. Steve Karau was named the Gregory A. Lee Professor of Management in January, 2011. Karau teaches courses in organizational behavior, human resources, and research methodology. His research focuses on a range of organizational behavior issues, including motivation in groups, team performance, leadership, and the ethics of organizational change. Dr. Karau received his Ph.D. in social psychology from Purdue University in 1993. He has published more than 30 articles in a variety of top management and psychology journals, and his research is frequently cited by other scholars.

    Allan Karnes, the KPMG Tax Research Professor of Accountancy joined SIU College of Business in 1981, and brought with him many years of public accounting experience. He served as Director of the School of Accountancy from 1995 to 2005.  A native of northern Indiana, Karnes earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University.  He was certified as a public accountant in Illinois in 1979. Karnes also earned a law degree from SIU School of Law in 1986 and was admitted to the bar that same year. Professor Karnes focuses on taxation and law, partnership and individual taxation; unauthorized disclosures of tax returns and return information and marital relations.

    Darla Karnes researches financial accounting, managerial accounting and federal taxation. She is also a member of the Illinois CPA Society and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Born in Olney, Karnes was raised in Princeton, Ind. She is a dual-degree graduate of SIU. She holds a bachelor’s degree in health care management and a master of accountancy. At SIU, Karnes serves on the Alumni Board of Directors, Alumni Association Membership Committee, Student Instructional Support Committee and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Committee.

    Maryon F. King is an Associate Professor in Marketing at the College of Business, as well as the Director of the Center for Innovation. She received her B.S. in Zoology and Biochemistry, as well as her MBA from the University of Maine (Orono), and completed a residency in Medical Technology. Before earning her Doctorate in Business from Indiana University, King worked in the medical industry, both in hospitals as well as the manufacturing sector, and owned and operated a tax business.

    Dr. Lynette L. Knowles, Associate Professor of Marketing, came to SIUC in 1988. She has a MBA from SIUC, and a MA in International Business and a PhD in International Business and Marketing from the Ohio State University. She has taught undergraduate marketing channels, international business, and international marketing, and MBA international business and global marketing. She has awards in the college’s Research Honor Role and its Scholars Program, and she is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Academy of International Business.

    Catherine Lumbattis represents education at its best. She has won the KPMG Peat Marwick Award for Outstanding Instructor in the School of Accountancy almost every year since 1995. Plus, she won the College of Business Outstanding Term Instructor for 2005 and 2006. Lumbattis teaches financial and managerial accounting. An SIUC lecturer since 1981, she is a two-degree graduate of SIUE, earning her bachelor's degree in 1974 and her master of business administration degree in 1975. Since 1996, she has also taught the CPA Review Course.

    Starting in the College of Business in 1988, Maurice McCann has been a lecturer of The Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business and Real Estate Law within the Department of Finance. He received his bachelor’s degree in history education, master’s degree in history, and doctorate degrees in education and jurisprudence all from SIUC. He is admitted to practice at circuit and appellate levels in Illinois and Missouri State and Federal courts.

    William McKinley is the Rehn Professor of Management in the College of Business. He received his Ph.D. in organizational sociology from Columbia University. His research interests are organizational restructuring and downsizing, organizational change, organizational decline, epistemological issues in organizational research, and the sociology, philosophy, and history of organization science. His publications have appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, among others.

    Dr. McNutt was born and grew up in Vandalia, Illinois. He is a three-degree graduate of SIU, earning a bachelor's degree in business economics and finance in 1997, an MBA in 1999 and a doctorate in finance in 2005. In 2005, Dr. McNutt became a faculty member of Rutgers School of Business in Camden, NJ. He returned to SIU as an Assistant Professor in 2008. He teaches financial markets and financial institutions. His research focuses include commercial banking, corporate finance, executive compensation and earnings management.

    Prior to joining SIU College of Business as a visiting professor in July 2009, Professor Morris was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Southern Illinois University where he taught courses in Partnership Taxation and Corporate Taxation. After a time in private practice, he served as Director of Financial Planning and Administration for Cook County in Chicago, Illinois and Senior Financial Analyst and Compliance Officer for Siemens-ICN in Boca Raton, Florida. He will be teaching Business Enterprises, Accounting for Lawyers, and Partnership Taxation at SIU School of Law.

    Jonathon Mote is an Assistant Professor of Management in the College of Business at Southern Illinois University. His research interests are primarily focused on the interrelationship between organizational environments and networks of science and innovation, and he is currently the Co-PI on a NSF-funded project looking at the determinants of innovation in basic and applied research in federally-funded national laboratories. From 2003 to 2009, Jonathon was an assistant research scientist at the University of Maryland and remains affiliated with the Center for Innovation at UMD. Jonathon received his doctorate in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.

    Peter P. Mykytyn, Jr. is a Professor of Management Information Systems and Chairman of the Department of Management at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.  He received his Ph.D. degree from Arizona State University in Computer Information Systems.  He has published his research in over 45 journal articles, and his research interests include the relationship between information technology and a firm’s competitive advantage, use of group-support technologies in organizations, and the relationship between intellectual property, information technology, and organizational effectiveness and performance. In 2010, he was co-recipient of the Research Paper/Creative Activity of the Year Award from the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (9CASA), Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

    Dr. Nasco earned degrees at the University of Florida and the University of Notre Dame. She is the Director of MBA programs and Associate Professor of Marketing at Southern Illinois University, where she has won several teaching and research awards. Dr. Nasco teaches the highest-level Ph.D. course in Multivariate Statistics to College of Business doctoral students and teaches the MBA class in Promotional Strategy. Her research interests are in the areas of mobile promotions, social media, technology acceptance, international pricing and small-business strategy, and consumer behavior. She also serves as international faculty for the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in Grenoble, France.

    Dr. Dennis G. Nasco joined the Southern Illinois University College of Business in 2006. Dr. Nasco brings a variety of real-world corporate Human Resource experience to the college. Dr. Nasco is also visiting faculty at the Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France and the London School of Business and Finance in England. A native of Florida, Dr. Nasco earned his Doctorate degree from Southern Illinois University, an MSHRM (MBA) from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Florida.

    While at SIUC, Professor Nelson taught applied managerial research, organizational behavior, organizational theory, small business management, leadership and management, organizational change and research methods. He currently teaches organizational behavior in the online MBA program. Dr. Nelson joined the College of Business faculty in 1991, and has been honored with the Graduate Teaching Honor Roll Award five times and the Undergraduate Teaching Honor Roll Award twice. Dr. Nelson has also taught at Louisiana Tech University, University of Texas at El Paso and at Brazil’s U. Federal de Minas Gerais, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.  Dr. Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in Portuguese and a master’s degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University. He holds a doctorate in organizational behavior from Cornell University.

    Jim Nelson is an associate professor of Management Information Systems.  He received his BS in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and his MS and PhD in Information Systems from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  His research interests include developing models of information systems quality, IT paradigm shifts, and the business value of information technology.  Dr. Nelson generally teaches courses in information systems including object oriented technology, systems analysis and design, database theory and practice, and business data communications.

    Dr. Kay Nelson has 11 years business engineering and senior management experience with Procter and Gamble, Apple, and NATO. She co-owned software development/consulting firm Centurion Management. Her PhD is from the University of Texas - Austin. She has held academic positions as Assistant Professor U of Kansas and U Utah, Associate Professor and Director Center for Information Technology in Management, Ohio State University, and is a Full Professor of MIS/Entrepreneurship/Management and PhD Adviser at SIUC. Named Outstanding Woman in Technology in 2004, Dr. Nelson is also an NSF CAREER Scholar. Recent areas of research are IS Personnel Transition and Entrepreneurship.

    Edward L. Nowlin is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, his MA from Ohio State University, and his BA from Denison University. Professor Nowlin’s research currently focuses on using salespeople as sources of market information and marketing and sales leadership.

    Odom teaches undergraduate and graduate accounting information systems, internal auditing and fraud auditing. Since 2004, he has been the Director of the School of Accountancy. Odom came to SIU in 1998 from The University of Southwestern Louisiana. His research interests include internal auditing, fraud auditing, new technologies and the impact they have on accounting information systems. A native of Arkansas, Odom earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Arkansas State University and a doctorate in accounting from Oklahoma State University. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Army.

    Ed teaches courses in financial statement auditing, information technology assurance, and decision-making research methods. After working as an auditor for an international accounting firm, a controller for a closely-held company, and a sole-practitioner CPA, he earned a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas and began his academic career. Ed’s research uses experimental methods to examine factors that influence decisions made with accounting information. His work has been published in a variety of academic journals, including The Accounting Review, Accounting Organizations and Society, Auditing, Behavioral Research in Accounting, and the Journal of Information Systems.

    Dr. Pearson currently serves as the Director of the Pontikes Center, an endowed center for research in information systems. He has also served as the editor for the Journal of Internet Commerce. Dr. Pearson has published over sixty articles in journals such as the JAIS, CAIS, Communications of the ACM, Information & Management, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Information Systems, among others. His research interests are in the areas of technology adoption, e-commerce, management of quality, ethics, and IT project management.

    Dr. Peterson is the Chairman of the Department of Finance. He joined the College of Business in 1997. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska (1987), a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University (1990), and a Ph. D. in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University (1996). Prior to arriving at SIU, Dr. Peterson worked at the National Security Agency, E-Systems Inc., and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Dr. Peterson performs teaching and research in the investments area. He has published papers in: Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Financial Markets among others.

    Dr. Pilger is a lecturer in the Department of Finance. He has been with the College since 1992. In 1994, he received his Ph.D. from SIU. He earned his BS from the University of Illinois, and his MBA from Western Illinois University. Dr. Pilger's research focuses on the approval of golden parachutes and poison pills amendments with regard to board composition. He has published in the Financial Review and Corporate Ownership and Control journals.

    Dr. Rakowski joined the College of Business faculty in 2003. Before launching his academic career, he gained corporate experience at Delaware Investment Advisors in Philadelphia, Pa. and V. Alexander and Co. in Memphis, Tenn. Dr. Rakowski earned a bachelor of business administration from Stetson University and a doctorate in finance from Georgia State University. His research interests include market liquidity, mutual fund flow, geography of finance and investor behavior.

    Professor Rivers joined the College of Business in 1978, and held several leadership positions including Associate Dean from March, 2000 to July, 2007. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and master’s and doctoral degrees from Kent State University.  Dr. Rivers’ teaching interests include management accounting and control systems (masters level), accounting information systems, advanced cost accounting and introductory and intermediate financial accounting.  Dr. Rivers has taught at the Harvard University Extension School in Cambridge, Mass, every summer for the past 11 years.

    Assistant Professor of Accounting Ramon P. Rodriguez, Jr is a dual-degree graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1999 an MBA in 2001.  He holds a doctorate in international business from The University of Texas at El Paso.  He is a certified public accountant. Rodriguez teaches tax, financial, international and managerial accounting.  Rodriguez researches international accounting, capital markets and taxation.

    Dr. Julie Sobery earned her BS in Accounting from the University of Miami, her MBA from SIUC and her PhD from St. Louis University. She has taught at the SIUC College of Business since 1985, and served as the Acting Director of the School of Accountancy in 2001 and 2004. She is now the Director of the Master of Accountancy program. Her research interests include EPS and governmental accounting, tax decision making in municipal governments, citizens' reactions to procedures and outcomes and foreign partnerships.

    A Southern Illinois native, Guy Strong attended Illinois Wesleyan University (B.A. in history, 1973) and law school at the College of William and Mary (J.D. 1976). After he began his legal career he was hired to teach business law at SIU for the Finance Department in 1982 and for the Off-Campus Military Programs in 1984. For 15 years he also taught continuing education courses nation-wide for certified public accountants through the AICPA. In addition to general law courses, he has taught classes on disability, and civil rights laws, labor-management relations, and the Uniform Commercial Code. Currently, in addition to his teaching for COBA, he is in private practice locally concentrating in family, real estate and criminal law.

    Associate Professor Chuck Stubbart has taught Management and Strategy at the College of Business at Southern Illinois University since 1991. Before teaching at SIU he taught for 8 years at University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his PhD in Management and Strategy from University of Pittsburgh in 1983. Professor Stubbart has published in Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science and other leading journals. He has also taught and lectured in many foreign sites, Hong Kong, England, Sweden, Finland, France, Italy, and Russia.

    John H. Summey is Associate Professor of Marketing and Distinguished Teacher at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His research interests include marketing strategy, customer relationship management, ethnography of adventure travel, marketing education, and marketing research. He has published articles in various journals and he serves on the editorial board of the Marketing Management Journal and The Journal for the Advancement of Marketing Education. In 2005, Summey was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year at SIUC.

    Dr. Tadisina has been with SIUC since 1986. He has held adminsitrative assignments as Associate Dean and Chair of the Department of Management and has served on more than 35 dissertation committees, of which he chaired or co-chaired over a dozen. Tadisina's research is in the areas of service operations management, technology management, measurement of quality and supply chain collaboration. Tadisina is a native of Hyderabad, India and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Osmania University in Hyderabad. He then went on to earn MBA and PhD degrees from the University of Cincinnati.

    Dr. Raymond Wacker was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1973 from St. Louis University, a master's degree in 1974 from the University of Toronto and a doctoral degree in 1989 from the University of Houston. Wacker joined the College of Business in 1989, and has garnered praise and numerous accolades including the 2007 Outstanding Educator Award given by the Illinois CPA Society. Wacker teaches taxation, international business policy, business ethics, and managerial and financial accounting. His research focuses on international taxation.

    Li Xu is an assistant professor who has taught intermediate accounting and PhD seminar in the School of Accountancy. She received her BA from Wuhan University, MS from Suffolk University and her PhD from Duke University. Her primary research interests include corporate governance, earnings management, voluntary disclosure, international accounting and auditing information systems. She has also served as an ad hoc reviewer for Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting and Managerial Finance. Her papers have been presented at numerous international and national conferences.
