Born and raised in Wuhan, China, Assistant Professor of Accounting Li Xu is far from home but as a resident of southern Illinois, she is often reminded of home. “I appreciate the combination of country life and a vibrant university town,” said Xu who holds a bachelor’s degree in international finance from China’s Wuhan University in her hometown.
Xu praises the College of Business faculty members who are “very kind and very intelligent,” she said. However, the most rewarding aspect of teaching is when students “tell me how much they enjoyed my classes,” Xu said.
Xu also earned a master’s degree in finance and banking services from Boston’s Suffolk University in 2001 and a doctorate in business administration from Duke University in 2006.
Xu teaches financial and managerial accounting, investment management, financial statement analysis and accounting principles. She researches capital markets, financial analysis, institutional investors and earnings management.
A fan of nature, Xu enjoys the outdoors and regularly takes advantage of the beauty of the region. Her other hobbies include movies, cooking and writing short stories.
